The Haywood County Chamber of Commerce serves as an advocate for issues pertaining to Haywood County businesses, community stakeholders and our membership. The Chamber’s Governmental Relations Committee continues to establish and enhance relationships with governmental officials, provide information and obtain input from our membership on governmental issues relevant to them. Events including our Elected Officials Reception, Legislative Trip to Raleigh and Candidates Forums provide our membership with the opportunity to network with elected officials and to have their voice heard.
Each year the Governmental Relations Committee develops a Legislative and Public Policy Agenda. The 2011 Legislative and Public Policy Agenda represents the Chamber’s commitment to maintain and grow a strong business climate and exceptional quality of life for Haywood County. The issues in this agenda are based on surveys and briefings from community partners and the Chamber’s membership as a whole. Committee members and staff provided expertise and perspectives to evaluate the issues and potential impact on businesses and the community.
