Haywood County - Home of Mélange of the Mountains

The Haywood County Chamber of Commerce will host its 7th Annual Mélange of the Mountains, a Culinary Gala, March 26, 5:30–8:30 p.m. at The Gateway Club.

Experience the culinary talent of some of Western North Carolina’s most regarded restaurants and vendors as area chefs compete in categories ranging from salad to seafood to dessert. Attendees are invited to sample delicious items directly from the menus of area restaurants and to feast your eyes on expertly plated specialties entered in the competition. Coffee, beer and wine will also be available for sampling.

Michael Fahey, Executive Chef of the Cedar Creek Racquet Club and President of the Western North Carolina Culinary Association will serve as the judging lead for the competition. Chef Fahey’s judging team will include culinary representation from acclaimed restaurants and culinary publications throughout the region.

According to Fahey, "The refinement of the culinary arts in our region is why cuisine in western North Carolina is current and delicious. Mélange of the Mountains gives the talented chefs of Waynesville a great venue to share their creations."

Returning to the competition will be the coveted Award for Culinary Excellence. This award will be given to the restaurant with the highest scoring dish during the competition - a restaurant that truly exemplifies excellence in their field.
