If you looked back through Haywood County’s history,
you would find a rich legacy of hard-working people
with a demonstrated will to move forward. The people
have looked to the surrounding mountains and carved
out everything they needed, not only to survive, but
to thrive. That is the way it always has been, and
so it remains today.
Business and Industry in Haywood County is diverse
and growing. Vacated manufacturing plants are back
in use by a plastics molding and truck parts
manufacturer, a cable TV parts distributor and yet
another expects to be developed into multi-use
retail. Health care is expanding rapidly, important
for an aging population. Tourism is growing,
supported by local artists, craftsman and the
natural resources of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Technology is increasingly important to develop new
agricultural products and medicines, while broadband
internet access is developing to keep abreast of the
times.
