Water is not only a necessity of life, but can be a
source of beauty as it tumbles down mountain streams
or flows lazily through a meadow.
Because of its mountains, Haywood County has a
unique watershed that creates a rare situation. All
water seen or used in Haywood County originates
here. The Haywood Waterways Association was formed
to maintain and improve the water quality. The group
has developed a watershed action plan, has ongoing
educational programs and is active in greenway
efforts.
Haywood County citizens are
fortunate to have some of the best-tasting water in
the state.
In addition, that water provides some of the
loveliest areas in the nation to fish and explore.
